Dec 26: Arrival day in Capetown!! It took 36 hours to get to Capetown, but as you will see, it was worth it. 5 hour flight from LAX to Dulles, Washington DC, a 10 hour layover, a 7 hour flight to Dakar, a 9 hour flight to Johannesburg, a 2 hour layover and finally CAPETOWN. Add the extra time I spent in LAX and it made for a Loonnnggg Day. I was met at the airport by Kieran and Jodi Moore, 2 of Mark’s kids. Completely made my Christmas. Being away from my family is always hard, but seeing these 2 brought a huge smile to my face.
We stopped by Mark’s house so I could meet the dogs and then onto the campground. We will be roughing it for the next 2 weeks. The teams stay in a bunkhouse, I get a tent and all of the helpers are sleeping under the stars. May sound a little rough, but these accommodations are FANTASTIC.
my tent has a mattress, pillow and a warm blanket. And the campground has a warm shower. LIFE IS GRAND!!! We will wake in the morning to play a game between Pole-2-Pole (P2P) and Duestche Baseball Academy (DBA). Goodnight, I am extremely tired!!!!
PS. We were serenaded to sleep by the croaking of frogs or are they toads?
